10 Random Recommendations Part 44
A new round of recommendations before 2024 closes out.
1. 311: Full Bloom- Arguably the rock outfit’s best album in years.
2. RoboCop: Rogue City- I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I’m finally playing this video game. It’s a fun and immersive FPS that stands out as one of the better games based on movies in a while.
3. Music By John Williams- A moving documentary that is not only about legendary composer John Williams, but about film and TV music history, artistic collaborations, and classical music.
4. Vintage Sports Flips- I’m a sucker for videos about thrifting and and this Philly reseller/podcaster/YouTuber stands out from the rest as he looks for unusual vintage sports memorabilia, pop culture oddities and sports/trading cards.
5. A Dog Called…Vengeance Blu-ray- One of the best discoveries this year was this multi-genre 70’s thriller that received a brand new Blu-ray release from Severin.
6. Sing Sing- Based on a real life theater arts program at the Sing Sing prison, this is a deeply emotional drama from A24 that is sadly not getting the attention it deserves.
7. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 50th Anniversary 4K Box Set- By far the best set I reviewed this year was this ultra-cool Dark Sky Films release which contains a 4K/Blu-ray and a VHS housed inside a plastic chainsaw with a sound box.
8. Meximelt- One of Taco Bell’s all-time best items is back for a limited time.
9. The 4:30 Movie- This 80’s set romantic comedy is a real return to form for Kevin Smith. Now available on home video.
10. Faceoff: Inside The NHL- A captivating 6 episode behind-the-scenes documentary series focusing on some of the best NHL players and teams in the 2023-2024 season.
