What’s Being Released In September 2024?

After a dreadfully slow August, September is bringing the heat. Not only are there major big screen offerings, but there’s plenty coming to TV, music, and sports. Enough of my yammering, on with the list!

1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice- Tim Burton’s sequel is among the most anticipated 2024 films. Will it live up to the hype or suffer the fate of many sequels that are released LONG after the original? We’ll find out Sept. 6 in theaters.

2. The Penguin- While the wait for “The Batman 2” lingers on, we get a nice appetizer in the form of the HBO crime drama series dedicated to Colin Farrell’s Penguin. Sept. 19 on HBO.

3. NFL 2024 Season- The wait for a new NFL series is always agonizing, but the wait is almost over! Opening Day starts Sept. 5 with the Ravens at the Chiefs. #Go49ers.

4. Tulsa King Season 2- Taylor Sheridan’s rather underrated dark comedy crime series starring Sylvester Stallone starts back up Sept. 15 on Paramount+.

5. Megalopolis- Francis Ford Coppola’s recent output hasn’t set the cinematic world on fire, but his new self-funded big budget opus is the type of gutsy original movie we need more of (regardless of quality). Sept. 27 in theaters.

6. Agatha All Along- The scene stealing villain from “WandaVision” gets her own Disney Plus series Sept. 18.

7. The 4:30 Movie- Much like Coppola, Kevin Smith’s latest work has been rather forgettable. If the trailer is any indication, this new coming-of-age comedy looks to be a personal project that harkens back to his glory days. Sept. 13 in theaters.

8. Rebel Ridge- Director Jeremy Saulnier is one of the most interesting voices in indie cinema with films like “Murder Party” and “Blue Ruin.” His latest film is headed to Netflix Sept. 6.

9. Billy Strings- Highway Prayers- The ultra-talented jamgrass artist is back with a new album Sept. 27.

10. Transformers One- Admittedly, this animated origin story looked like a watered down Transformers, but early buzz is that it’s actually one of the best TF films. We’ll see if that’s accurate Sept. 20 in theaters.
