Top 5 Marvel Animated Series

With “X-Men ‘97” due out March 20, 2024, it felt like the right time to take a look back at the best Marvel animated series. While there are undoubtedly a lot of promising projects on the horizon (like “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”), the 5 series listed below are the current best in my humble opinion. On with the list!
1. X-Men: The Animated Series- There’s a reason why we are getting a sequel series. This is the “Batman: The Animated Series” of the Marvel animated television world. Not only did this series introduce “X-Men”to a whole new audience, but it also put its own spin on stories and characters while still remaining true to the essence of the comics. Plus, has there ever been a better Gambit?
2. Spider-Man: The Animated Series- Some might prefer “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” but to me, this series gave us the best version of Peter Parker AND takes full advantage of one of the best rogues galleries. The opening credits song still rages too.
3. Wolverine And The X-Men- This 2009 animated series offered up a more adult take while also putting the beloved Wolverine at the forefront.
4. The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes- 2 years before “The Avengers” movie, this short-lived 2010 animated series became a fan favorite and for good reason. It’s largely faithful to the comics and did a splendid job in juggling the many iconic characters.
5. I Am Groot- Through two seasons of shorts (with hopefully more to come), this slight but charming and hilarious CGI animated series gave Baby Groot fans more to love.
