What’s Being Released In August 2023?

Summer may be winding down, but there’s still no shortage of entertainment options in the month of August. As per usual, I have highlighted the 10 most notable releases of the month in my personal opinion.

1. Ahsoka- The fan-favorite Star Wars character gets her own series at long last. Although, to be fair, it also serves as a sequel to “Star Wars: Rebels.” Aug. 23 on Disney+.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem- Growing up as a TMNT fan in the 80’s, I always look forward to a new TMNT film. If the reviews are any indication, this very well might be one of the best if not the best TMNT film to date. Aug. 2 in theaters.

3. Blue Beetle- This DC film officially kicks off the new era of DC. Intriguing to say the least. Aug. 18 in theaters.

4. Babylon 5: The Road Home- At long last, a new B5 story emerges in the form of a new animated feature film. Aug. 15 on home video.

5. The Hives: The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons- It’s been 11 years since their last album, but the underrated garage rock band returns with their 5th studio album. Aug. 11.

6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- A new asymmetrical multiplayer video game that will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC Aug 18.

7. Heartstopper- The hotly anticipated season 2 of the coming-of-age romantic comedy series hits Netflix Aug. 3

8. The Last Voyage Of The Demeter- Normally I’d roll my eyes at another Dracula film, but this one shows great promise with Andre Ovredal at the helm. Aug. 11 in theaters.

9. FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023- The Women’s World Cup has already started, but it will be continuing through August 20th.

10. Enter The Dragon 4K UHD- The Bruce Lee classic hits 4K as part of WB’s special ongoing 100th anniversary releases. Aug. 8 on home video.
