What’s Being Released In July 2023?

July is a big month for theatrical releases, but worry not as there’s plenty of TV series, events, and even albums too. As usual, I have singled out the 10 most exciting (to me) releases. On with the list!

1. Barbie- At this point it’s safe to say Greta Gerwig’s take on the timeless toy franchise is the most intriguing summer movie. We’ll all find out how it fares July 21 in theaters. 

2. Oppenheimer- “Barbie” isn’t the only movie out July 21st. Christopher Nolan’s latest opus also hits the big screen the same day. 

3. San Diego Comic-Con- With most studios skipping the big con this year, it might be a less publicized event. Still, there’s bound to be at least some big news coming out of the yearly geeky event. July 20-23.

4. Greta Van Fleet: Starcatcher- One of the best modern hard rock bands returns with their 3rdalbum. July 21.

5. Foundation- Season 2 of the underrated sci-fi series based on Isaac Asimov’s classic book series makes its return to AppleTV+ on July 14.

6. Special Ops: Lioness- Taylor Sheridan’s newest series has some serious star power with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Zoe Saldana. Can the show creator keep his hot streak going? July 23 on Paramount+.

7. Full Circle- Steven Soderbergh and Ed Solomon combine forces for this star studded new series featuring Claire Danes, Zazie Beetz, Dennis Quaid, Timothy Olyphant, and more. July 13 on Max.

8. Heels- One of TV’s best kept secrets is this Stephen Amell starring series about wrestling. Season 2 premieres July 28 on Starz. 

9. Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part 1- The rare franchise that has somehow gotten better as it has progressed. Will this latest installment be the best one yet? What stunts did Tom Cruise do this time around? All will be revealed July 12 in theaters.

10. After Hours Criterion 4K- Martin Scorsese’s weirdest and most underappreciated work gets the Criterion treatment at long last. July 11 on home video.
