10 Random Recommendations Part 36

New month, new recommendations. 

1. Still: A Michael J Fox Movie- An honest, deeply emotional and superbly edited documentary that is easily one of the best films of 2023.

2. Dave Matthews Band: Walk Around The Moon- DMB’s best album in years. “Break Free” just might be my favorite studio recording since the “Before These Crowded Streets” era. 

3. Bridgeport Hobby- My current wormhole on YouTube is sports card dealers and collectors. While there are a lot of great YouTubers in that field, Rob’s Bridgeport Hobby channel might be my favorite. It’s a positive, insightful, entertaining, and infectious look at the sports card world. Bridgeport Hobby to the moon!

4. American Born Chinese- One of the year’s best new series is this adaptation of Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel. It doesn’t hurt that the series boasts an “Everything Everywhere All At Once” cast reunion of sorts.

5. Fired On Mars- For some reason this adult animated series didn’t receive a lot of press, but it should be getting more attention. It’s a comedic series in the vein of “Office Space” that goes in some very unexpected directions.

6. Superman 5-Film Collection 4K Set- Relive the Christopher Reeves Superman era with the first 4 films (including the theatrical cut and the Donner cut Of “Superman 2”). 

7. Neighbor: Self-Titled- It’s time to get on the Neighbor train with their debut album which features catchy tunes like “Take Me Alive,” “Pine Tree,” and “The Weeds.” One of the best up and coming jam bands.

8. MLB.TV Subscription- The season may be nearing the mid-way point, but an MLB.TV Subscription is a must for any baseball fan. This year has been especially engaging with the new pitch clock rules which have shortened games and made them more exciting.

9. Brigsby Bear- One of my favorite films of the past decade is this oddball comedy film that features an amazing Mark Hamill performance. The less you know going in the better. Currently on Hulu.

10. MLB The Show 23- More baseball? Yep! This new baseball video game is one of the best sports games in awhile in my humble opinion. Easy to play, lots of options, lots of modes. What more could you want?
