Supernatural Season 14 Blu-ray Review

The penultimate season of “Supernatural” hits home video.

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.”

In the 20 episode season 14 (which is shorter than usual), fans can expect to see stories involving the Apocalypse World Archangel Michael possessing Dean, Michael creating a monster army comprised of the like s of vampires and werewolves and so on, Jack’s changes and transformations (being purposefully vague here), demons, Nick becoming volatile, the Winchester Family, ghosts, murder and monster cases, a big death, God, and characters such as Billie, Rowena, Donatello, Jody among others making appearances.

As much as fans love Dean (Jensen Ackles), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) and the numerous other characters, it feels like the right time for this show to end with the 15th and final season. While there’s plenty of entertainment value and drama to be had here, season 14 shows that the writing staff is running out of ideas with some rather tired storylines. After all, there are only so many stories you can tell with possessions, end of the world situations, characters from heaven and hell, monster cases, and big bads (of which there are several this season) over the course of 300 plus episodes now.

Speaking of episode 300 (which is titled “Lebanon”), it is by far the most buzzed about episode of the season. Not only does it see the return of Sam and Dean’s father John, but it includes an involving timeline alteration storyline. I won’t say anything more as to avoid spoilers. Another highlight here is the season finale “Moriah” which teases what is sure to be an epic final season. I know, I know, I’m being vague again. Trust me, you’ll want to experience it for yourself.
