Star Wars: The Last Jedi- Rey’s Journey Book Review
“Rey’s Journey” is another “Last Jedi” tie-in children’s book.
In this World of Reading children’s book aimed at level 2 readers (Kindergarten to second grade), readers follow Rey during her time on Ahch-To. For whatever reason, the book only follows the events of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” from Rey’s first encounter with Luke to the start of her lessons/training from Luke. Why the rest of Rey’s journey is not depicted, I have no idea. Even stranger is the fact that there are moments that are decidedly not apart of Rey’s journey as author Ella Patrick focuses on Chewbacca, Leia, and Luke a few times. Shouldn’t it just be told from Rey’s point-of-view?
Much like the other “Star Wars” children’s books I have reviewed as of late, “Rey’s Journey” is aimed strictly at young readers. While it is odd to see what is actually shown in this book, it’s still perfect material for young children who love “Star Wars.” As an added bonus, there are also 26 stickers included along with the book. Yes, there are Porg stickers for those that are wondering.
As for the artwork, Brian Rood once again provides his picturesque photorealistic art style which essentially looks like airbrushed stills from the film.
