Star Wars Adventures Issue 9 Comic Book Review

“Star Wars Adventures” continues on with the ninth issue.

If you’ve been following the “Star Wars Adventures” series, you pretty much know what to expect by now. It’s a comic series clearly aimed at a younger crowd and the stories are very light (and sometimes slight), but the appeal is being able to read stories about various characters from different eras.

In the ninth issue, the comic kicks off with writer John Barber’s “Trouble Again” tale which takes place after Episode 3 and focuses on a recently memory wiped C3PO and R2-D2 on board the Tantive 4 with Captain Antilles. There’s a plot concerning a suspicious droid, but what makes the story charming is seeing how the 2 lovable droids bicker and bond all over again. The stylized art by Chad Thomas really compliments this story as well.

Next up is “Tales From Wild Space: IG-88 Vs. The Gatto Gang” by writer and artist Nick Brokenshire. Plotwise, it’s a very basic lesson story about persistence involving bounty hunter IG-88 capturing a gang. What really stands out about this story is the highly detailed artwork (every panel is brimming with life) and the specific use of color (you’ll know what I am talking about when you see it.)

Finally, the comic closes out with a “Dispatches From Wild Space” piece with Emil answering a letter, a spotlight on Captain Antilles, IDW ads and a cover art gallery.
