Careful What You Wish For DVD Review
“Careful What You Wish For” is a fairly routine thriller.
In “Careful What You Wish For,” Doug and his family venture to their vacation home for the summer before Doug heads off to college. While there, Doug finds himself falling for his wealthy neighbor’s (Elliot) wife (Lena). Eventually, Doug and Lena hook up (a lot) which leads to a whole world of trouble for Doug. Obviously, I could go into more details, but I’m being specifically vague here so as to not spoil the second half of the movie.
If you’ve ever seen a film noir or an erotic thriller before, the plot of “Careful What You Wish For” should seem familiar to you. It’s a pretty standard thriller/morality tale that offers little in the way of surprises. With that said, it still manages to be watchable as it holds your interest through the 90 minute runtime. Slight praise I know, but that’s more than I can say for many films these days.
Of course, the reason many people out there will seek out this movie is for Nick Jonas (one of the members of the now defunct Jonas Brothers band). Fans of the former pop star will undoubtedly be excited to see him in a starring role (especially one that sees him shirtless on several occasions). He does a pretty solid job too! As for the rest of the cast, Isabel Lucas shines as Lena as does Dermot Mulroney who plays the jackass Elliot.
Video/Audio:
Presentation: 2.35:1. How does it look? This is a well shot movie and the transfer is crisp. What more can you ask for?
Audio Track: Dolby Digital 5.1. How does it sound? In a word, adequate.
The only extras are Anchor Bay trailers.
