Regular Show: Mordecai Pack DVD Review
Another month, another “Regular Show” DVD release.
The lovable park groundskeepers Mordecai and Rigby are back for another DVD release. In this particular disc, viewers are treated to 16 Mordecai centric episodes that involve: Mordecai becoming a blonde, a rich country club, repainting a house, Pops trying to be one of the guys, cavemen, the coveted every meat burrito, Mordecai’s romance with CJ, a Daylight Savings Time prank, a New Year’s kiss (as the episode title suggests), dodgeball, Mordecai and Rigby getting stuck in a portable toilet, Death’s son Thomas, table pants (tants), a messed up portrait of Benson, and Mordecai trying to get over his split with Margaret. The episodes are culled from seasons 3, 4, 5, and 6 (with most coming from season five).
Having reviewed countless “Regular Show” DVDs, you should all know where I stand on the series by now. If you don’t, I think it’s an amusing oddball animated series that manages to appeal to adults and kids. Is it destined to become a classic like “Ren and Stimpy”? Probably not, but it stands out in today’s modern cartoon world.
So, what all is in this new set, you ask? A sampling of enjoyable episodes that range from truly weird adventures (toilet creation and tants?) to surprisingly emotional pieces about Mordecai’s relationship with CJ and the end of his relationship with Maragret.
While I stand by the fact that you get more bang for your buck with the season sets, these affordably priced single discs are a good value if you want a taste of the show. The “Mordecai Pack” is certainly an above average collection that is worth picking up (especially if you are collecting every release).
Video/Audio:
Presentation: Widescreen. How does it look? While not the most advanced animation around, the colorful series looks respectable in standard definition.
Audio Track: Dolby Digital 2.0. How does it sound? The music and dialogue sound as good as they possibly can on a 2.0 track.
The only extras are 2 “Regular Show” ads.
