SEAL Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden Blu-ray Review

Seal Team Six- The Raid On Osama Bin Laden Blu-ray

“SEAL Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden” is a slap in the face to the real U.S. Navy’s SEAL Team Six.

If you saw “Zero Dark Thirty,” chances are high that it made some sort of an impression on you. Despite how you may have felt about the actual film itself, one can’t deny that it was incredibly well made thanks to Kathryn Bigelow’s award worthy direction. It’s also a well known fact that ‘Thirty’ elicited debates amongst viewers about such topics as torture and or the film’s depiction of it. With “SEAL Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden,” the only discussions it will likely spawn is how bad the movie is.

If you’ve ever tuned into a historical television program, you’ve probably seen corny reenactments. That is essentially all “SEAL Team Six” is. Everything “SEAL Team Six” does, “Zero Dark Thirty” does better including the raid sequence, the CIA investigation, the cast, the cinematography, the direction, the dialogue, the pacing, the score, and, most importantly, the military tactics and factual research. There is very little that is factual about “SEAL Team Six” as it is little more than dramatized fiction. It’s a complete waste of time and it’s insulting to both viewers and the NAVY. It’s a cheap cash-in on “Zero Dark Thirty” with a thrown together, random cast (William Fichtner, Robert Kenpper, Cam Gigandet, rapper Xzibit, and “American Pie” star Eddie Kaye Thomas to name a few) that walks through their roles with nary an emotion. Skip this and watch “Zero Dark Thirty” instead.

Video/Audio:

The TV movie, which is presented in 1.85:1 1080p, certainly looks its best in hi-def, but that’s not saying much considering how lousy the cinematography is.

The 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio track is the best aspect of the entire disc. Everything from the weapon fire to the dialogue sounds clear.

The lone extras are Anchor Bay/The Weinstein Company trailers and a featurette titled “The Making Of SEAL Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden” which features the usual cast/crew interviews, set footage, and film clips.
