The Simpsons Season 15 DVD Review

The Simpsons Season 15 DVD

The fifteenth season of “The Simpsons” has quite a few gems.

If you can’t get enough of the citizens of Springfield, you’ll be happy to know that the fifteenth season of “The Simpsons” is now available on home video. Throughout the 22 episodes, viewers can expect to see plots about: Homer’s mother, Lisa going on strike against Principal Skinner, a Simpsons family England trip, a bear, a Krusty bar mitzvah, an X-Mas episode, taxes, a novel by Marge, a history anthology series in the vein og “Treehouse of Horrors,” Milhouse moving, Lisa running away, Artie Ziff, wine drinking, Bart handcuffed to a girl, Skinner and Edna’s relationship, a chase, Homer’s first kiss, an internment camp, a newspaper run by Lisa, and a ’Treehouse’ episode featuring stories about death, a zombie, and time stoppage.

Casual and or hardcore ‘Simpsons’ fans often dismiss later seasons as being inferior to the first 8 seasons, but I beg to differ. Season 15 turns out to be a relatively strong season as it’s filled with loads of geeky episodes (which is up my alley). I quite enjoyed seeing Homer becoming a superhero named Pie Man, the “Star Wars” fan spoof in “Co-Dependent’s Day,” the Comic-Con/Comic Book Guy centric “My Big Fat Geek Wedding,” the anglophile centric “The Regina Monologues,” the Battle Bots spoof “I, (Annoyed Grunt)~ Bot,” and, of course, the yearly horror spoof “Treehouse of Horrors” (installment XIV). Sure, these episodes may not be classics to all fans, but they have everything a fan could want from this show such as fan favorite secondary characters (like Comic Book Guy) getting the spotlight, hilarious jokes (even Fox gets bashed here!), and more guest stars than you can shake a stick at (including Matt Groening himself!). What’s not to like?
