Alice In Wonderland 60th Anniversary Blu-Ray/DVD

alice In wonderland blu-ray“Alice In Wonderland 60th Anniversary Blu-Ray/DVD combo” is a visual treat for all.

I first saw “Alice” as a youngster in the theater and my impression of it than and now is how amazing the colors are throughout the film.  The lanterns at the tea party, the flower garden with attitude, the walrus and the carpenter sequence, all drip with saturated colors and visuals.  The story, based on the Lewis Carroll books, is a bit odd, but certainly not by today’s standards.  Add the voices of raspy Sterling Holloway as the Cheshire Cat, and goofy Ed Wynn as the Mad Hatter for a memorable good time.

The film is short, even for an animated film, coming in at a little over an hour but this blu-ray/dvd set is jammed packed with extras like most Disney blus, making it a great value.  Included on the blu-ray are a side by side comparison of the film vs. the books, which runs the length of the film, Through The Looking Glass Mickey Mouse cartoon in HD, the color television introduction to Alice by Walt, the original “Alice” comedy, a silent one reel gem first created by Disney, an hour long holiday special with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy at the Disney studios, plus newly discovered footage, some deleted scenes, interviews with Kathryn Beaumont (voice of Alice) and Walt Disney about the film, plus rare promotional footage from the film’s first release.  It’s a very healthy package of extras that will keep you occupied well past the viewing of the film.

The package includes the dvd of the film but no digital copy, a disturbing trend from Disney as of late.

You can not go wrong with this excellent blu-ray/dvd combination package; a great film restored to pristine condition, excellent value (around $20.00 if you shop around), a ton of extras and a dvd copy.  Disney again offers the most bang for your buck.
