How I Met Your Mother Season 5
By now, most are familiar with the general premise of How I Met Your Mother. Josh Radnor portrays Ted Mosby who, in the future, is telling his children the story of how he met their mother.
Season 5 begins with Ted’s first day as a college architecture professor, and due to a little mistake he makes, the day becomes painfully awkward and amusing. This season also sees Barney and Robin, portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders, having to come to terms (with some help from Alyson Hannigan’s Lily Aldrin) with the sexual relationship they’ve been engaged in all summer.
What works so well with How I Met Your Mother is the genuine chemistry among the cast members. All the actors have great comedic timing, and the aforementioned chemistry gives believability to some otherwise far-fetched situations. Also integral to the show is Jason Segel’s character, Marshall, who is never less than entertaining.
How I Met Your Mother is a great example of a modern comedy with enough awkwardness, cast chemistry, and uniqueness to stand out above most of its competition.
Overall grade: B
Extras: bloopers, music videos, the making of “Super Date,” “The Wedding Bride” trailer (extended version), behind the scenes of the 100th episode, and a series recap.
