2009 Holiday Gift Guide

As the holiday season approaches, shoppers are scrambling to find the perfect gifts for their friends and family. Here at DVDCORNER, we have decided to make shopping for Blu-rays, DVDs, music, and video games a little easier by giving you folks a few suggestions. Enjoy!

BLU-RAYS

1. Star Wars- The Clone Wars Season 1 Blu-ray- If you have a family member (or friend) who loves “Star Wars,” there is no better gift than this Blu-ray set.

2. James Bond Blu-rays- When it comes to action films, nobody does it better than Bond.

3. Torchwood: Children Of Earth- The television event of the year is an absolute must buy for anyone on your list who loves Sci-Fi.

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Film Collection Blu-ray Set- Fans young and old will love this 4 disc collection that is housed in a neat cardboard pizza box esque case. As an added bonus, the box is literally stuffed with extra goodies including a beanie cap and a mini full-length comic book.

5. Coraline- If you’re in search of the perfect movie for your children, look no further than the “Coraline” Blu-ray set which includes both the 2D and 3D versions of the movie.

DVDs

1. “The It Crowd” season 1-3- I cannot recommend this criminally underrated British sitcom enough.

2. Rifftrax DVDs- Whether Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett (AKA the Rifftrax gang) are providing commentary for goofy films like “Reefer Madness” or silly, outdated shorts (as in one of their 4 shorts collections), the Rifftrax discs are guaranteed to make people laugh (especially if they love “Mystery Science Theater 3000”). 3. “Friday The Thirteenth” 1-8 Special Editions- Horror junkies will salivate over these new editions containing TONS of extras and remastered video and audio.

4. Mystery Science Theater XIV- Speaking of MST3K, this set was one of the best DVD releases of the year thanks to the side-splittingly funny episodes “Final Justice” and “Soultaker.”

5. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog- The award-winning Joss Whedon musical will make a great gift for anyone.

MUSIC

The Beatles Remastered Stereo Albums- The Beatles have never sounded better than in these recent remastered CD re-releases. In my humble opinion, the two most impressive discs sound quality wise are “Rubber Soul” and “Abbey Road.”

VIDEO GAMES

1. Halo 3: ODST- The best Halo game since the first.

2. BEATLES ROCK BAND- A game the whole family can enjoy.
