In this batch of cartoons, you can expect to see all of the classic characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety Bird, and Elmer Fudd. Stories involve spoofs of “Aladdin” and “Boston Blackie”, a little duckling, Conrad Cat, Shep and a bulldog, baseball, Peter Rabbit, Daffy as a singing cowboy, several Jekyll and Hyde tales, Foghorn egg-sitting, Wile E. Coyote v Road Runner, Sylvester going after Tweety, twin gophers shenanigans, a tiny Knight, a mouse, Foghorn encountering an ostrich egg, a rooster vying for a worm, Ralph Wolf v Sam Sheepdog, Foghorn vs a fighting rooster, a protective flea, a kid being mean to his dog but learning the errors of his ways, Porky Pig getting an annoying house guest, Porky and Sylvester in a ghost town, Sylvester being mistaken as a chicken, Bugs Bunny adventures (including a run-in with Elmer), Claude Hopper the kangaroo, Porky and Sylvester encountering an alien, Speedy Gonzales and Slowpoke Rodriguez, Porky trying to get rid of a mouse with a robot cat, Pepe LePew, Charlie Dog, Porky v termites, Daffy meeting Elmer, and Daffy at a poultry show.

When it comes to classic cartoons, “Looney Tunes” is pretty much the gold standard. Not only are the characters pop culture icons, but they continue to endure to this day as they are reintroduced to new audiences time and time again. While this collection may not feature the cream of the crop of “Looney Tunes” animated shorts, there’s plenty of joy to be found here (not to mention plenty of Chuck Jones and Bob Clampett directed work). Everyone will undoubtedly have their own favorites, but for me, “I Taw A Putty Tat” (a classic Sylvester and Tweety tale) and “Jumpin’ Jupiter” (Porky and Sylvester are abducted by an alien bird-like martian) are the standouts. There’s also a healthy dose of Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner toons like “Fastest With The Mostest” and “Stop! Look! And Hasten!” Sure, they’re all interchangeable, but they’re always a laugh riot and arguably the most consistent of the Tunes character shorts.

Whether you’re a casual fan or a completist, Looney Tunes Collector’s Vault: Volume 2 is an easy recommend.
