K-Pop Demon Hunters Soundtrack CD Review

Now you can have “Golden” stuck in your head all over again.

Not since “Frozen” and “Encanto” has a soundtrack for an animated musical film taken the world by storm. Since the Sony Picture Animation film’s release on Netflix in 2025, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” has been inescapable and has even gone on to win 2 Oscars. The film is due for a physical release by Criterion within the year, but in the meantime, you can pick up the soundtrack which features 12 tracks: 1. Takedown (By Twice) 2. How It’s Done (By Huntrix) 3. Soda Pop (By Saja Boys) 4. Golden (By Huntrix) 5. Strategy (By Twice) 6. Takedown (By Huntrix) 7. Your Idol (By Saja Boys) 8.Free (a duet with the characters Rumi and Jinju) 9. What It Sounds Like (By Huntrix) 10. Love Maybe (By MeloMance) 11. Path (By Jokers) 12. Score Suite (By Marcelo Zarvos)

Obviously, “Golden” sung by the Huntrix demon hunters/K-Pop group (Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami in real life) is the big breakout hit here. I’ve even heard it on the radio. There’s just something about this anthem that really resonates with people. It’s danceable, it’s uplifting, it never leaves your head. There’s a reason it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

There’s much more to the soundtrack than just “Golden” though. “Takedown” (by both the South Korean K-Pop group Twice and the Huntrix trio) is a real bop, “What It Sounds Like” gets the heart pumping (especially in the context of the film), and the Saja Boys (demons/music rivals) tune “Soda Pop (sing by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo and samUII Lee) is a catchy little pop tune. Look out for several tracks by real-life South Korean K-Pop groups Twice, Jokers, and MeloMance too. Both “Love Maybe” and “Path” are sung in Korean. The final track contains a Score Suite by composer Marcelo Zavros (the deluxe edition contains more of his work).

You don’t even have to like pop or K-Pop to appreciate the soundtrack. They are just extremely well done songs that also happen to tell a story within a movie. If you can’t get enough “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” the soundtrack is definitely for you.

Note: the CD soundtrack comes with a character card and a booklet with a track listing and credits that doubles as a mini-poster.
