Paw Patrol: Fire Rescue DVD Review

Strictly for the fans.
“Paw Patrol: Fire Rescue” is a new to DVD release featuring 6 episodes (four of them with 2 stories) from season 11 of the long-running CGI animated series. The 6 episodes included here are: “Pup Saves The Big BBQ,” ”Pups Save Lizzy’s Lemonade Blaze,” “Pup Saves The Flaming Flounder”/”Pups Make The News,” “Pups Save A Baby Goat Birthday”/”Pups Save A S’more-mergency,” “Pups Save Fogstock”/”Pups Save The Stage Actor,” and “Pups Vs. The Robo-Ducky”/”Pups Save The Lost Penguin.”
For those that may not be aware, the franchise takes place in Adventure Bay (and sometimes Foggy Bottom) and revolves around a human kid (Ryder) who leads the heroic Paw Patrol team in stopping disasters and helping people. With this set of episodes, the focus is primarily on the Fire Rescue team which includes Ryder and the 6 pups Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rocky, Rubble and Zuma. For whatever reason, the last 2 episodes (featuring 4 stories total) have nothing to do with the Fire Rescue team which kind of ruins the theming. Anyway, viewers can expect to see plots involving a new fire station, fire accidents (involving a BBQ grill, Lizzy’s Lemonade Stand, a lighthouse and flounder, parkette, a birthday party, and camping), a music festival causing damage, Francois winding up in the dangerous woods, a runaway giant robot duck, and a penguin and Chickaletta mix up.
With a new movie (“Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie”) on the way in 2026, it’s safe to say the “Paw Patrol” franchise is in no danger of slowing down. Clearly, I’m not the demographic for this series as it is very much aimed at young children, but I can appreciate the show’s good intentions in teaching kids about teamwork and safety (namely fire safety in the case of this batch of episodes). The series itself is very formulaic. The talking, laughing and barking pups embark on a mission (complete with vehicles, gadgets and outfits) to put out fires or rescue people. The townspeople (such as Mayor Humdinger, Mayor Goodway, Farmer Yumi, Lizzy, Francois) tend to be the ones causing disasters as they are the most accident prone people in the world apparently. Of course, there’s plenty of silly pup hijinks along the way too. The series may annoy some parents/adults, but it’s obvious that it has struck a chord with kids and there’s nothing wrong with that.
