Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 Blu-ray Review

“Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey 2” improves upon the first film in every way.

In this sequel to “Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey,” the story focuses on Christopher Robin after surviving the Hundred Acre Massacre. Christopher returns to the town of Ashdown where people believe he is responsible for the murders. As his life falls apart, he decides to see a hypnotherapist (Mary) as he’s also dealing with trauma involving his twin brother Billy. Christopher soon uncovers numerous horrors involving his brother, a mad scientist, and Pooh, Piglet, Owl and Tigger coming to Ashdown to wreak havoc. There’s also subplots involving Christopher’s friend Lexy and Christopher’s younger sister Bunny.

“Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey” took the media by storm by being the first out of the gate to create a horror film based around the iconic Winnie The Pooh character. Sadly, the movie itself was a self-serious bore. With “Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey 2,” writer Matt Leslie and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield seemed to have taken the criticisms about the first film to heart and have made a sequel that is vastly superior to the first.

Right off the bat, the sequel offers up more characterization as the film is partially a psychological drama about Christopher Robin. Granted, it goes into some weird territory with the Doctor subplot and the revelation of who Pooh is, but at least there’s an actual story here. It also helps that Rhys recast parts (Scott Chambers impresses as Christopher) and gave the creatures more of a role. Pooh and company actually speak which really goes a long way in making them more than just killing machines. Plus, the addition of Tigger and Owl is an exciting one for fans wanting to see more characters from the franchise make into this new horror series.

The production values are also better across the board. Piglet, Pooh, Owl and Tigger’s costumes are of better quality and the rave massacre sequence is supremely well done and is the real MVP of this slasher here.
