Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 4K UHD Steelbook Review

“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” finally hits 4K!
After countless re-releases year after year, Paramount has done right by fans by putting John Hughes classic comedy on 4K at long last.
Having reviewed the film several times already, you probably don’t need me to tell you about the story of the sly titular teen taking a day off school to have a grand adventure in Chicago with his pal Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane, but I guess I just did.
You probably also don’t need me to tell you that this remains a near perfect influential teen/coming-of-age comedy after all these years thanks to John Hughes genuinely funny and endlessly quotable dialogue and well developed characters. Plus, the film probably contains the best use of a fourth wall break (something that is incredibly hard to pull off in cinema).
With great characters comes an equally great cast. Matthew Broderick has had a long varied career, but his portrayal of the fun-loving teen is so iconic and charming. Likewise, Alan Ruck has done so much (including the beloved “Succession”), but his oddball performance as Cameron really resonates. Mia Sara really should have had a bigger career as she was splendid as Sloane. Jeffrey Jones is note perfect as the irritable and obsessive Principal Rooney. Jennifer Grey is in peak form as the sister of Ferris Jeanie.
