Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife Blu-ray Review
Dead on arrival.
What happens when you mix “Very Bad Things” with “Throw Momma From The Train”? You get the woefully unfunny “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife.”
In this “dark comedy,” the entire plot revolves around Ward and his friends (Ronnie, Tom and his wife Gina, and David and his wife Amanda) dealing with Ward’s insufferable, bitchy, selfish, and controlling wife (Stacy). Will Stacy really be killed or not? Wait and see. Or don’t.
Despite boasting an impressive cast that contains Amy Acker, Donald Faison, Patrick Wilson, Greg Grunberg, and Nicolette Sheridan, “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” is a humorless one joke movie with one note characters. In fact, there’s barely a movie here as the majority of the short runtime is comprised of small talk, forced plot points (a cop neighbor), seemingly soulless characters, and the most rushed ending in cinema history.
Now, before someone calls me me out for not appreciating dark comedy, that’s simply not the case. Heck, I have even written a deranged short animated comedy. The problem with “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” is that it simply doesn’t have anything resembling humor unless you count the character’s baffling and non-sensical reactions. I would go into more detail here, but I don’t want to enter spoiler territory. Suffice to say, these characters are messed up and this warped tale of friendship is misguided to say the least.
Video/Audio:
Presentation: 16:9 1080p. How does it look? A fine hi-def transfer.
Audio Track: 5.1 DTS-HD. How does it sound? A strangely soft track.
The only extras are Well Go USA Entertainment trailers, a “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” trailer and 3 ½ minutes of outtakes.
