The 3 Stooges Blu-ray Review

“The 3 Stooges” is about as fun as a poke in the eyes.

The plot: Adult orphans Moe, Curly and Larry set out to raise money for their orphanage that is on the verge of shutting down. Amidst their journey, the 3 bumbling idiots get embroiled in a murder plot that naturally causes further chaos.

Even as a child, I was never all that fond of “The 3 Stooges.” The humor was always pretty one note and repetitive for me and it still remains that way with this new feature film.

While longtime fans of the comedic trio may get a kick out of seeing the characters brought back to life courtesy of the Farrelly Brothers, other film-goers will likely be annoyed by the cartoony shenanigans and groan worthy sight gags (see the baby urine scene). While a few moments elicit chuckles (namely the “Jersey Shore” bashing and the social media poke line), most of the slapsticky physical humor seems to go on endlessly, but really, that’s just the ‘Stooges’ brand of humor in general.

Despite not being a fan of the film, you have to give credit to the three leads (Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos) who do a splendid job of recapturing the characters mannerisms, movements, and of course, pain inducing actions.

Summary: For fans of “The 3 Stooges” only.

The film is presented in 1.85:1 1080p and it looks crystal clear. If you ever wanted to see hi-def Stooge antics, you will certainly be pleased by the picture quality here.

The 5.1 DTS-HD audio track ensures that every head clunk, eye poke, and nyuk nyuk is louder than ever.
