Castle: The Complete Second Season

Nathan Fillion has made the successful transformation from “Firefly” to “Castle” and is one of the strongest personalities on television because of it.  Season two of this popular murder mystery/comedy series takes up where season one left off; more puzzling crimes and the constant sexual banter between Castle, a mystery writer who goes on murder scenes and his “inspiration”, detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), who clashes with him at every opportunity. Still, while the writers go out of their way to make sure the two conflict in every episode, there is an attraction to each other that neither will admit to but everyone knows about.  With great supporting roles from her detective team of Ruben Santiago-Hudson and  Jon Huertas, and Castle’s family of Molly Quinn as his daughter and Susan Sullivan as his mother, the show has a wining combination of mystery, romance, and humor.

The 5 disc set contains all the 24 episodes of Season Two plus some extras but not a lot.  They include :

On the Set with Seamus & Jon – behind the scenes with the cast’s resident comedians, Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas, as they reveal secrets of the set.
On Location with Nathan – Nathan Fillion introduces us to some of his favorite crew members and demonstrates some interesting tricks of the trade
Manhattan’s Most Unusual Murders – Discover how the production team stages murders using research, props, and special effects with inside stories from the producers, actors, and set designers.

Deleted Scenes, Bloopers & Outtakes

No commentaries which would have been nice by Fillion or other cast members is disappointing.

Fans of the series will want to get this season two set, as it continues strong writing,  lively scripts, and great cast.
