Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Blu-Ray

This computer animated feature , based on a very popular children’s book has a talented cast and is a great family film.Bill Hader plays Flint, a scientific genius who always seems to miss the mark.  He lives on a small island which only export is sardines, and the market for sardines dries up.  Flint comes up with an invention that changes water into food and like most of his inventions, it doesn’t quie go as planned, and gets launched into the sky, where it mixes with the clouds and food starts falling from the sky.  Anna Faris plays a weather girl wannabe who comes to the island to cover the story and becomes the love interest.  James Caan plays Flints father, who is skeptical of his son’s sudden success.  Bruce Campbell plays the greedy mayor out to make a quick buck and the comic highlight is played by Mr. T as the town cop.

Extras on the disc incllude a making of featureete, a making of music video starring Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), a spalt mode, where you throw food onto the screen while watching and a food fight game.  The disc is alos BD-Live enabled.

Along with the blu-ray disc, you also get a dvd copy with director commentary and dvd-rom functions and a very controversial digital copy.  Controversial because Sony has made the digital copy only for its products. You must use a Playstation 3 to transfer the digital copy to a PSP. Most digital copies are not product specific and will work on ipod or computer but Sony has made the sucky decision to only have digital copy for their products.  Bad move Sony.

An entertaining family film, “Cloudy” is good, predictable fun for the family.  Just don’t count on that digital copy for anything unless you have all Sony products.
