Gone With The Wind 70th Anniversary edition

Gone With The Wind cover

Gone With The Wind

Warner remastered this classic for its 70th anniversary and its never looked or sounded better. The two disc set is priced aggressively at around $20 for a few reasons: First, a lot of people already bought this disc in one version or another over the years and keeping the price point low may entice you to buy again; this set lacks a lot of extras (just commentary by film historian Rudy Behlmer) and three, most classic movie lovers probably own a blu-ray player and is buying that special edition, which has 4 discs and all the extras you could want about the film.  Blu-Ray is definitely getting all the energy from this studio now with their classic titles (The Wizard Of Oz is another example) and this dvd edition is a prime example of how dvd is fading in the studios mindset.

Still, if you want the dvd, you can not go wrong with this edition, as the studio has restored the picture and sound on this two disc set better than any edition that has come before it.
